Affordable Art at the Cape
25th - 28th May 2009

Following the great success of the inaugural exhibition during the February Half-Term week earlier this year, “Art at the Cape” is being repeated during the forthcoming Spring Bank Holiday week.

“Affordable Art at the Cape”, to give it its full title will run from 10.00 a.m. on Monday May 25th till 4.00 p.m. on Thursday May 28th. Admission is free, there is ample free car parking and the event overlooks one of the most dramatic settings in West Cornwall - Cape Cornwall and the Brisons islands. The venue is Cape Cornwall Golf and Leisure resort, which sports Britain’s first, and last, 18 hole golf course, and the exhibition may be viewed between 120.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. (except on the final day, when it closes at 4.00 p.m.). The majority of work on show will be well and truly affordable in these troubled times, while a small number of items will appeal to collectors at the upper end of the current market.

“Over 300 people attended the event in February”, says Terry Glazebrook, Managing Director at the Cape resort, “so we are gearing up to welcome many more on this occasion”. Exhibition organizer, Michael Jay is very enthusiastic about the event. “We plan for ‘Art at the Cape’ to be a major event during the main holiday periods and during the Autumn and Spring school half term holidays when Cornwall abounds with visitors who are disappointed to find that many attractions are closed,” say s Mike. “art at the Cape” will become an event that defines the character and popularity of contemporary art in Cornwall and that locals and visitors will look forward to visiting” he adds.

On display and available for purchase will be a wide range of paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and ceramics by some of the South West’s leading artists. These include: David Andrews, Neil Davies, Catherine Forshall, Catherine Harvey Jefferson, Robert Jones, June Miles, Eric Pentecost, Mark Spray, Richard Stanley, Michael Strang, Carrie Taylor and Jon Thompson.
