The Great Atlantic Galleries warmly welcome Carrie Taylor’s 2009 collection of work, which she has called “The Nature of Paint”. The work may be seen at the Bank Square Gallery, St Just until 6th June and thereafter, at the Arwenack Street Gallery, Falmouth until 21st June.

Carrie, a trained, professional artist lives and works in St Just and focuses on the flora and fauna of here immediate surroundings, occasionally venturing forth to more distant parts. Her paintings are
avidly collected and her new collections eagerly awaited.

“This year’s exhibition called ‘The Nature of Paint’ is my view of the Cornish landscape and seascape as I observe the changes which take place throughout the seasons. The spring colours which open fresh and bright to fade with the hot summer sun, holiday waves breaking over rocks or lapping on the sandy beach. The wonderful richness of autumn hues then winter white with skeletal trees, some still hold the last red berries for hungry birds. I have included some garden flowers in my selection, as when I am not painting, I spend many happy hours in my own small patch. I feel that painting and making a garden are complementary activities; both play with shape and colour, although my planting is a much more random affair, with success or failure dictated by strong winds and weather.”
