Bob Vigg was born and bred in the West of England and now lives
in Botallack, near St Just-in-Penwith on the tip of Britain that
protrudes into the great Atlantic Ocean.
The physical and cultural restlessness of the far West of England
has been distilled through Bob Viggs eyes and soul and runs through
his blood. The key ingredients of Spring, Autumn, Summer and Winter;
of weather, fine and foul are recorded in his paintings. He captures
the visual stimuli of local scenes that draw the visitors from
far and wide and root the resident population.
Bob works outside and finishes his paintings on the spot in the
time honoured alla prima technique. Using a limited palette
and an army of brushes, Bob works quickly and simply to capture
and interpret the changing imagery of land, sea and sky.
A member of the St Ives Society of Artists, Bob has exhibited
widely throughout the West Country and has work in private collections
in many different countries. His solo shows are immensely popular
with the public. Small wonder then, that this, his first solo
show at The Great Atlantic Map Works Gallery, St Just was booked
ahead almost two years ago. |
