Tom Dewhurst was born in 1948. he attended Junior Art School in 1961, Liverpool College of Art from 1969 - 1972 and the Royal College of Art from 1972 - 1975. He has had one man shows in London, the Coventry City Art Gallery, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Durham University and in his adopted home town, Monmouth, Wales. Group shows include British Drawing Biennale (three times); Hunting Group (eight times); Jerwood Drawing Prize (twice) and the National Portrait Gallery (six times).
Artist’s Statement: “Just about all of the work in this small exhibition record, reflect and are a dialogue with my long-suffering family. In the setting of a small town, they continue the English narrative tradition, whilst exploring the limits of the creative and original risk taking process that, hopefully, is an original voice – indeed, a diary of a provincial painter.”
