Quayside, Newlyn
In his latest exhibition at The Great Atlantic Gallery, Falmouth, Neil Pinketts sea and landscapes are tours de force. As sea, clouds and sky meet, shafts of light pour down from heavily laden clouds, flooding his canvases with light like old masters. Yet his studies of boats are the very essence of pure simplicity; impressionistic still lifes, peace and tranquillity saturate these paintings. Peta-Jane Field, from an Inside Cornwall article about Neil Pinketts South by Southwest show Neil Pinkett became a professional painter during the 1990s following a career as an illustrator of books and a visualiser working in the advertising business. The transition from one career to the other was assisted by a period of teaching at Camborne College.
