Colours may vary between the original paintings and the reproductions shown here. All paintings are framed and, where appropriate, glazed. Steve Slimm has been exhibiting his work in UK galleries since 1980 and has gained a significant reputation for his soulful painterly landscapes with their elusive air of mystery. Steve Slimm is from the West Midlands and arrived in Cornwall in 1970 via a spell living in the Cotswolds. Among the influences on his painting, Steve cites Turner and John Miller, from whom he learnt a great deal. He has exhibited his work in a great number of galleries all over the British Isles and his work is to be found on the walls of countless private homes. As an initial guide for the work in this exhibition, Steve Slimm used the book The sun and the serpent by local authors Hamish Miller and Paul Broadhurst. Steve, a firm believer in the power and influence of ancient ley lines, worked his way across the West Cornwall landscape during the autumn and winter of 2004 and 2005. St Michaels Mount naturally became a strong focus of his attention.
His efforts have resulted in a collection of paintings, sketches, sound recordings and musical compositions.
This exhibition at The Great Atlantic is one of several that Steve Slimm aims to produce at our other galleries over the next few years.
