Time and Tide on the Isles of Scilly

Morning light, tide falling 540 x 540mm watercolour on paper £750   Time and Tide on the Isles of Scilly is a collection of watercolours, with some oil paintings made by Sue between the Autumn of 2001 and the Spring of 2002. Most of her recent shows have featured works from mainland Cornwall so it is especially pleasing to see a body of work produced in and around her Isles of Scilly home. Sue Lewington works mainly in watercolour but has recently started to paint with oils again. Her collections are often specific to particular localities and her work is published in colourful and highly popular books. Sue trained at Harrow School of Art in the mid-sixties and worked as a freelance illustrator before moving to Cornwall in 1975. After a short time out to have two daughters and run a smallholding at Pendeen near Penzance, she began to sell etchings and taught printmaking and drawing, in local schools and the Penzance School of Art. A complete change of direction for Sue came in 1989 when she moved to St. Martins, Isles of Scilly and opened the North Farm Gallery there. She has painted full-time ever since. Her first book, "Sketches of Scilly" was published in 1997 and she now has more than ten books in print.
