bren unwin horizon The Great Atlantic Map Works Gallery is pleased to present a new
collection by Bren Unwin. Prints are framed and glazed, paintings are framed and unglazed.
Sizes shown are for overall framed image. Cheques and all major
credit cards accepted. Colours may vary between the original paintings
and the printed reproductions. Born in 1956, Bren first came to Penwith in the 1960s. She has
a BA (hons) degree in Fine Art and is currently studying for a
Masters (by research). She is an active member of the Cape Cornwall
Coastwatch team and also a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists
and the Penwith Society of Art. “My work is a representation of place. Through the medium of printmaking,
I am seeking an equivalence between the landscape and its image.
Of particular interest is the temporal, layered nature of the
landscape and how this process of landscape formation is reflected

“The work is underpinned by an essentially phenomenological approach,
an approach which is then meditated through observation and repeated/layered
description.
“The spatial diffusion of change gives a temporal account of place
over time. Changing patterns are imposed on the landscape. Time
relations as well as space relations bring about a continuous
process of dissolution and replacement. The rhythmic nature of
human activity resonates with other living things and also with
the cycles of seasons, winds and tides.”
