John Emanuel (born 1930)
John Emanuel was born in Bury, Lancashire. He began painting in his early thirties after serving an apprenticeship in decorating and sign writing. Emanuel’s home and studio have been on the Cornwall coast since 1964. Although he did not exhibit for almost a decade, he is well known in London and Cornwall through more than 20 solo shows and over 120 group exhibitions. The female form is prevalent in much of his work though his paintings contain elements of the local landscape as well as the human figure.
