Kate Nicholson (born 1929)
The only daughter of Ben and Winifred Nicholson, Kate Nicholson was born in Cumbria, attended Bath Academy of Art where Peter Lanyon was among her tutors. She moved to St Ives in 1956 and became a member of Penwith Society, dividing time between Cornwall, Cumbria and Greece which she would continue to do for many years. Kate Nicholson was included in the Arts Council tour Six Young Painters in 1961 and also had solo shows at Waddingtons, Marjorie Parr Gallery and LYC Museum and Art Gallery, Brampton.
