“In a single brushstroke we can say more than a writer in a whole volume”

Edgas Degas

“After several years of concentrating on large mixed-media landscapes it has been a refreshing challenge to return to my old love, still life.

“To find inspiration I decided to revisit my large collection of still life drawings made over the past thirty or so years.

“Then I filled the studio walls with my favourite sketches and let myself ‘freewheel’. This has produced fresh, new responses, many on a small scale. As well as paintings there are some monotypes which are one-off prints taken from an oil painting done on a glass plate, a method which was invented by Degas.”

Jenny Grevatte

Jenny Grevatte’s distinctive mixed media and oil paintings and monotypes have been successfully exhibited at The Great Atlantic Map Works Gallery in St Just, Cornwall on several occasions in recent years. Judging from the high level of interest in Jenny’s work from people all over Britain, it is obvious the she enjoys broad based appeal. It is therefore fitting that she should present this solo collection of work in Monmouth where, free from the clamour for scenes of Cornwall, she can indulge in one of her principal delights -still life!

Jenny Grevatte - "Landmarks"
Great Atlantic Publications have published a book about the artist Jenny Grevatte and her work. Although based in the Midlands, Jenny has been a frequent visitor to West Cornwall for the past decade and a major part of her artistic output features the harbours, coves and beaches of Cornwall. The book presents a large number of full colour images of paintings that trace the evolution of Jenny's work through the late 80's and 90's up to the present day and gives an illuminating insight into the trials and tribulations of life as an aspiring, then established, professional artist.
