Battling against the wind, Treen My paintings are evolved from an instinctive response to the diversity of the environment, centering on the elements of weather, land, light and sea. The ancient landscape becomes a place of encounter where a shift in atmosphere or light triggers a corresponding emotion. Neil Davies, Hellesveor, St Ives, June 2006 After spending his early childhood in a small fishing village in Scotland, Neil Davies moved south and became a student at Farnham School of Art. After graduation, there followed a lengthy stay in Florence before lecturing at Guildford School of Art and West Surrey College of Art.
