John Piper (1903-1992)
The celebrated artist, John Piper was a man of exceptional talents - a successful writer, stage set designer and ceramicist, who also worked with textiles and created stained glass designs, including one for the Baptistery window at Coventry Cathedral in 1957. Fortunately for us he was a prolific painter and printmaker.
There exists a wealth of his finest limited edition screen prints and original lithographs depicting Country Houses and Castles in UK with particular emphasis on Wales where he lived for a time with his wife Myfanwy. Piper created auto lithographs in conjunction with John Betjemans writings in English, Scottish and Welsh landscapes and On the making of Gardens and we have a number of these for sale in this exhibition.
John Pipers colourful lithographs will be shown alongside the work of the internationally renowned ceramicist, Walter Keeler who will be exhibiting some of his wonderful cups, teapots, articulated jugs and vases.
