seven printmakers

One of the added attractions of printmaking is that you get two helpings of skill and talent in every piece of work. First you get the art of the printmaker in the form of the original imagery and subject matter. Then you get the skill of the printmaker who converts that art into the printed image.

Here at The Great Atlantic Galleries we have always shown printmakers’ work and for a while, had a more or less dedicated print gallery at 5 Bank Square in St Just.
So we are especially pleased to present a delightful collection of printmaking by Catherine Headley, June Hicks, Ian Laurie, Sheila Oliner, Adrienne Peverall, Lee Stevenson, and Jane Townsend.

Most of the work is editioned, so with several copies of most prints being available, this collection will be current for some time to come.

Catherine Headley lives in the midlands but draws much of her inspiration from the Land’s End peninsula. She trained at Somerset College of Art and Bath Academy at Corsham and has exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Watercolour Society. Catherine’s collagraphs are inspired by her experience of cliffs and moor and ancient sites in West Penwith, Cornwall: standing stones, rocky outcrops, windswept grasses, the blues of sky and sea, orange lichen and Latin inscriptions carved in granite.
