Neil Davies

After spending his early childhood in a small fishing village in Scotland, Neil Davies moved south and became a student at Farnham School of Art. After graduation, there followed a lengthy stay in Florence before lecturing at Guildford School of Art and West Surrey College of Art.

It was whilst teaching, that Neil first became fascinated with the nature of the Penwith landscape which still forms the basis of his inspiration today. He now paints full time, working from his studio on the north Penwith coast at Hellesveor.

“These paintings are the result of my emotional reaction to the distinctive nature of the Penwith landscape, in particular the sudden shifts in the elements and the transient seasons. I have attempted to capture a sense of passing time and to interpret the essence of my observations by producing a corresponding metaphor in paint.”
