Maggie Matthews
Born in wales in 1964, Maggie Matthews moved to West Penwith in
the late 1980’s and has since gained recognition as one of Cornwall’s
leading abstract painters. Sarah Brittain
Her work has been exhibited widely throughout Cornwall and the
UK, most notably in The City Gallery, The Air Gallery and Thompsons
Gallery of London. In 1999 she was invited to exhibit in America
on Nantucket Island and the following year her work was in a New
York exhibition ‘White Columns’ which subsequently toured the
USA. In 2002 she had a solo exhibition with the Cardiff Bay Arts
Trust.
In 1999 BBC Wales Broadcasting Studio commissioned a permanent
collection of Maggie’s paintings which are on display during broadcasts.
